CARDINAL SOFTBALL MAKES HISTORY

On June 4, 2021, Co-captain Maya Ross signed
her letter of intent to play with Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona. Maya is a pitcher and third baseman. “Never did I think I would be here as a high school softball coach and taking young girls to the state tournament every year. That’s what we’ve been doing the past five years and it’s amazing. For the first time ever here at St. Michael, we have our first ever college softball athlete. I am so proud of her. I am glad she is being recognized, she deserves to play at the next level.” said Head Coach Karen Tom at the signing held during the Senior Awards Breakfast. Maya was surrounded by her family and classmates during the signing.

At the same event, Athletic Director and Head Girls Basketball Coach Carl Adams proudly announced center Ashley Tsingine would take her game to the next level and play for Hesston College in Kansas. Having received the most improved player in her freshmen year, Ashley continued to build her skills and in her senior year secured 2nd team All-Region recognition. She plans to study Veterinary Science. Ashley is the third basketball player to sign in the last five years. Hunter Begaye signed with McPherson College in 2016 and Jalynn Smith signed with Presentation College in 2018.
