TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
St. Michael Elementary School is the older part of SMIS, tracing its origins to the original boarding school founded in 1902. The elementary school educates students from kindergarten through the eighth grade, preparing them with skills they need to succed in high school and beyond. Our students strive toward open communication, valuing the viewpoints of others, and excellence in all areas of their academic studies.

OH THE PLACES YOU'LL GO AT SMIS!
SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES
Weekly liturgies and other Catholic celebrations are conducted throughout the year. Catholic school activities are undertaken to promote awareness and gratitude for the loving presence of God. SMIS recognizes that God is at work in the lives of all people. Throughout the centuries, long before Catholic missionaries came on the scene, Navajos had developed a close relationship with the spirit world. Now, students may experience God’s blessings in both Catholic liturgies and Navajo ceremonies.
SCHOOL LEADERSHIP
The school is led by Mrs. Tazbah Yazzie.
