SMIS STUDENT LEADERSHIP PARTICIPATES IN
NEW AIA AMBASSADORS PROGRAM

Two high school students are embarking on a new journey with student leadership in conjunction with the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA).

The AIA recently initiated the Student Leadership Advisory Committee (SLAC) to work within the organizations to focus on areas of improving sportsmanship within school, building up student leadership in athletics, and building up school spirit.

Junior Aurianna Quintana and sophomore Dayshon Dalgai were selected in the spring of this year to represent the school. They met with other SLAC members in a leadership development day in Flagstaff, Arizona on August 15 in their first meeting this school year.

Members heard from student leaders who participated in the national meeting. The SLAC challenged all members to return to their schools and work on a few key areas. The main goal for this semester is to increase school spirit for the upcoming season among the student bodies, parents, and fans.

Aurianna and Dayshon both participate in cross country, basketball, and track and field–and have been members of the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society.
