This summer, the athletic program experienced record-breaking attendances at Cardinal Camps. The Cardinal Camps have been in full swing for three years and feature sports introductions and skills building for children ages 5 to 13.
SMIS coaches volunteer their time for one week to run the camps with student helpers and parents. In years past the enrollment averages 18 per camp. This year, the camps averaged 30 per camp. Soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, running, and volleyball camps were held throughout the month of July. High school student helpers work alongside their coaches to assist at the camps. Alumni volunteers included Dee Weber (’09), Joseph Weber (’11), Cheleah Herrera (’15), Sherilyn Herrera (’18), and Christopher Holgate (’02).
